My Simple Room Cleaning Kit I Use for the Entire House

I noticed something about cleaning products. Many homes have an entire cabinet full of sprays, powders, and tools for every different surface.

Kitchen cleaner, bathroom cleaner, glass cleaner, floor cleaner, furniture cleaner… the list never seems to end.

At one point I realized that most of those products were rarely used. Some bottles stayed under the sink for months without being touched.

So I slowly built a much simpler cleaning kit that works for almost every room in my house.

I use the same set of tools to clean the bathroom, kitchen, living room, bedroom, and even smaller spaces like shelves or window frames.

Instead of owning twenty different cleaning products, I now rely on a small group of reliable items that work well and are easy to keep organized.

One thing that makes this system work so well is how I store everything.

All of my cleaning essentials stay inside a small plastic basket that I keep under the kitchen sink.

Whenever I need to clean a room, I simply grab the basket and carry it with me. It saves time because I do not have to walk back and forth looking for different products.

Below are the products that make up my regular home cleaning kit.

1. My Everyday Multi-Surface Cleaner

One product I use almost every day is Method All-Purpose Cleaner.

It works on many surfaces like countertops, tiles, wood, stone, and glass, which makes it extremely convenient when cleaning different rooms.

The scent is light and fresh, which I prefer because strong chemical smells can make cleaning uncomfortable.

I usually spray it on kitchen counters, dining tables, shelves, and sometimes even the bathroom sink.

The reason I keep returning to this product is its versatility. It cuts through grease and grime while still being gentle enough for regular household surfaces.

For daily cleaning, this single spray already handles a large portion of the house.

2. Disinfecting Wipes for Quick Cleaning

When I need something faster than spraying and wiping, disinfecting wipes are incredibly useful.

I keep a container of disinfecting wipes in my plastic cleaning basket.

They are perfect for quickly wiping high-touch surfaces like door handles, light switches, remote controls, and countertops.

Sometimes after cooking I simply grab a wipe and clean the kitchen surface in seconds. It is also helpful when guests visit and I want to refresh a few areas quickly.

3. The Magic Sponge That Removes Tough Marks

Some stains do not disappear with regular cleaning sprays. That is when I use the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser.

These small white sponges work extremely well for removing stubborn marks from walls, kitchen cabinets, sinks, and bathroom tiles.

For example, small scuff marks from shoes on walls or marks on the kitchen backsplash often disappear after a few gentle wipes with this sponge.

I keep a couple of these in my cleaning basket because they are surprisingly powerful for such a simple tool.

4. Dish Soap That Works Beyond the Kitchen

Although it is designed for washing dishes, Dawn dish soap has become one of the most versatile cleaning products in my house.

A few drops mixed with warm water create a gentle cleaning solution that works for many tasks around the home.

I often use it for greasy stovetops, kitchen sinks, plastic containers, and sometimes even bathroom surfaces.

Because it cuts grease very effectively, it helps break down food residue or oily stains.

Sometimes simple soap and warm water work better than stronger chemical cleaners.

5. My Favorite Tool for Removing Dust

Dust builds up everywhere in a home, especially on shelves, lamps, picture frames, and electronics.

I like using Swiffer Dusters because the fibers grab dust instead of spreading it around.

The flexible head also makes it easy to clean areas like ceiling fan blades, bookshelves, window frames, and decorative items.

Compared with a regular cloth, dusters tend to collect dust much faster and prevent it from floating back onto surfaces.

I usually do a quick dusting of the living room and bedroom once or twice each week.

6. Bathroom Cleaning Essential

For the bathroom, the one specialized product I always keep is a toilet cleaner like Lysol Power Toilet Bowl Cleaner.

It is designed to cling to the inside of the toilet bowl so it can break down stains and disinfect surfaces effectively.

I usually apply it under the rim, let it sit for several minutes, then scrub with a toilet brush before flushing.

Keeping this one dedicated product makes bathroom cleaning much easier.

The Simple Tools I Always Keep in My Basket

Along with those cleaning products, I also keep a few basic tools inside my small plastic basket:

  • microfiber cloths
  • a small scrub brush
  • rubber gloves
  • a spray bottle filled with warm water and soap
  • paper towels for quick messes

Having everything together in one basket makes cleaning more convenient. I simply carry the basket from the kitchen to the bathroom or living room without searching for supplies.

Why I Prefer This Simple Cleaning System

With a small group of reliable cleaners stored neatly in one plastic basket, it becomes much easier to keep the house tidy without feeling overwhelmed.

My cleaning basket now holds everything I need for almost every room.

It saves time, reduces clutter under the sink, and makes daily cleaning much simpler.
